South Boston

Overview

South Boston, a neighborhood better known as “Southie” was made nationally famous via a handful of Hollywood portrayals. This neighborhood has been gentrifying and developing in earnest since the late 1990’s when Whitey Bulger and co. moved on from the area. From the newly established restaurants and bars to the historic st. patrick’s day parade and tree lighting ceremonies – many demographics call Southie home!

We believe when real estate consumers are presented with a complete and robust spread of data, in conjunction with their personal preferences, decisions can be reached with the most confidence.

Location

South Boston stretches from the edge of the South End, to the tip of Seaport to the eastern point known as Castle Island.

Over the past decade or so, South Boston has rather quickly transformed from a dichotomous residential and industrial section of Boston into a dynamic neighborhood with scores of ground up developments and mixed-use activity.

However, the scale of development over the next 20 years may be even more impressive as warehouses and industrial uses on the western side of the neighborhood evolve toward retail and residential applications. The scale of development potential, combined with a well built out transportation node (MBTA’s Red Line), will expedite development along the Dorchester Avenue corridor.
