What it lacks for creativity in its name it more than makes up for in the character and charms of this central South End area. The physical homes in this area are impressive and, more often than not, offer parking spaces which is rare in the other desirable South End sub- neighborhoods. While predominantly residential, South End South includes more than a handful of restaurants and coffee shops for neighbors to enjoy. Most of these are on Shawmut Ave or Washington Street.

South End South had 12 sales over $2M in 2022 totaling $33.5M in sales volume. This is up from 8 sales in 2021 and $21.1M in sales volume. More than half of these sales were on West Concord Street, which is a particularly desirable tree-lined street in this sub-neighborhood. The highest priced sale for the sub-neighborhood was 118 W Concord Street, a single family that sold for $4,850,000 after surviving many days on market in previous years.

United South End Settlements, an institution with deep history in the neighborhood, offers childcare and family services at their location on Rutland Street. The organization spent much of 2019 wrestling with the community over the sale of their building at 566 Columbus Avenue. They offer fun and engaging community events throughout the year (check out their annual gala in May or their Halloween Haunted House if you want a real scare!) in addition to their everyday mission of disrupting the cycle of poverty within the South End and Lower Roxbury Community.
