Central Square is Cambridge’s unofficial downtown, an energetic, mixed-use crossroads where government, culture, and community comes together.

It’s anchored by big civic spots such as City Hall, the Senior Center, and the YMCA, while the busy Red Line station and major bus routes connect the Square directly to Boston.

Once nearly erased by mid-century highway plans, Central Square has undergone a remarkable renaissance. Today, it buzzes with arts and culture.
