Contessa Opens in Lower Back Bay | By Rachel Bakish

The newest rooftop restaurant, Contessa, is “immediately the best restaurant in the city of Boston, and I don’t say that lightly” – Jeff Hamilton

Contessa just opened this week on June 22,  overlooking the Boston Public Garden and Back Bay Skyline from the 17th floor of the newest hotel on Newbury Street, the Newbury Boston. This gem shimmers atop the city with truly breathtaking views.  We stopped into Contessa to get a feel for this most luxurious Back Bay haunt. The build out of the space itself is inspiring but the food and service were equally compelling. Paying homage to the legendary grand villas of Northern Italy the food & drinks are something special too.

The Beef Carpaccio, for example, was unreal – The kind of dish that just melted in your mouth like yogurt. Lights out. The Lobster Pasta was jokingly delicious. Angel hair pasta with flavor on top of flavor and generous lobster chunks. Another home run.

We can’t wait to get back and dive deeper into the menu.

Contessa is open for cocktails and dinner service with breakfast, lunch, and brunch to follow in the coming weeks. Major Food Group is also behind all other food and beverage operations at the hotel, including the Street Bar, which opened in the spring.
