Are you an Upper Back Bay resident? Looking for local produce and fresh bread? Want to listen to live music on a beautiful Sunday? We have exciting news for you! The Muddy Water Initiative is launching a new farmers market at Charlesgate Park, located on Commonwealth Ave. on the banks of the Muddy River, starting Sunday, June 23. This market promises to be a weekly highlight, bringing together local farms, bakers, chefs, and food businesses every Sunday from 11 AM to 2 PM, through October 13.
Where can you find this New Farmers Market
Located under the Bowker Overpass at Commonwealth Avenue, this market is easily accessible from the Back Bay, the Fenway, and Kenmore Square. “From now through the fall, Charlesgate Park is a gorgeous place to be,” Caroline Reeves, the coordinator of the Farmers Market says. “We’ll be enjoying everything the market has to offer AND the beautiful landscape on the banks of the Muddy River.” Its prime location also makes it a convenient trip for our neighbors across the river in Cambridge.
The neighborhood is looking forward to this market bringing this underutilized space to life. “My favorite thing to do on a Sunday morning is to get some exercise then get ready for the week ahead,” says local real estate agent Katie Garger. “I could not be more excited for this market to open on my block, so I can do both at the same time!”
Visitors can expect a wide variety of fresh, locally-grown produce, prepared food, snacks and more. This market is designed to be more than just a Sunday shopping destination; it’s a community gathering spot! At the market you can enjoy performances from students of the Berklee College of Music, who will be playing live music to add to the vibrant atmosphere on select Sundays, picnic tables to enjoy the drinks and prepared food, and bring your dog!
