Kicking off the 2018 Holiday in Boston | By Rachel Bakish

With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s officially time for Boston to become the city of lights. This week is full of events that will get you in the spirit
of the holidays. Before the weather outside gets too frightful, make sure you kick off the season right with these tree lighting event ceremonies across
the city!

Light up the Square for the Holidays

November 26, 5pm-6pm

The Friends of Copley Square welcome the holidays with the annual Copley Square Tree Lighting. This free event will feature appearances by Mayor Walsh
(Dorchester resident), NECN’s Jenny Johnson (South End resident), Santa Claus (North Pole Resident) and Rudolph along with musical performances by
vocalist Mark “Sing” Robertson, the Boston Children’s Chorus, the Boston Pops Brass Quintet, and Berklee College of Music’s own Natalie Daniela Castro
Diaz. Light refreshments will be provided by Drake’s Cakes, KIND Snacks, HP Hood LLC, and the dairy farm families of New England and Must Be The Milk.
The Fairmont Copley Plaza will host a family reception immediately following for all in attendance. The reception will include cookie decorating, photos
with Santa and treats from the Fairmont Copley Plaza!

November 27, 5pm

A giant Christmas tree in the Rotunda lights up in the annual tree lighting event ceremony at 5pm on Tuesday, November 27, followed by an open house
and visit from Santa in Doric Hall. This marks the official kick-off of the holiday season in Massachusetts. More to do: Before the ceremony, explore
the special treasures in the State House. After the tree is lit, walk across Beacon Street to Boston Common, rent skates, and take a twirl around the
Frog Pond ice rink.

Light Up Seaport

November 30,6pm-8pm

Please join us in celebrating the most magical season of the year at our third annual tree lighting, Light Up Seaport. Enjoy live holiday tunes, treats
from Seaport restaurants, and festive giveaways! We also invite you to warm up in adjacent District Hall as you explore A Year in Seaport, a new photography
exhibit opening in celebration of our incredible neighborhood. This program highlights powerful visuals captured across the community in the past 365
days, and showcases the work of Fort Point resident George Vasquez, who has been documenting all of the development and movement in Seaport since last
year’s holiday season. Drinks are available for purchase at Gather, and activities will be set out for the littler Light Up guests. This holiday event
celebrates Seaport’s support of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes and The Gavin Foundation.
