Trees along the Mall will be lit after a festive gathering with friends, and neighbors. Trees will be illuminated with elegant lights made possible thanks to community support and private donations raised by the Committee to Light Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Join The Friends of the Public Garden in Lighting the Boston Commonwealth Avenue Mall this year!

Christopher Columbus Holiday trellis lighting
Waterfront | November 25th, from 6-8pm

As you cross the Greenway and approach the waterfront, you come to the vinery covered trellis prominently placed at the center of Christopher Columbus Park. On November 25th, the annual lighting of 50,000 shimmering lights commences at 6pm. Come see this local park soaked in it’s iconic blue light!

Massachusetts State House Tree Lighting
Beacon Hill | November 26, 5pm

A giant Christmas tree in the Rotunda lights up in the annual tree lighting event ceremony at 5pm on Tuesday, November 26. This marks the official kick-off of the holiday season in Massachusetts. Before the ceremony, explore the special treasures in the State House. After the tree is lit, walk across Beacon Street to Boston Common, rent skates, and take a twirl around the Frog Pond ice rink!

Light Up Seaport
Seaport | November 29,6pm-8pm

Join in celebrating the most magical season of the year in Boston’s sparking, innovative neighborhood, the Seaport District. Enjoy modern art installations, breathtaking ocean views and the fourth annual tree lighting, Light Up Seaport, all in one place!

Boston Common Tree Lighting
Midtown | December 5th, from 6-8pm

Since 1941, this annual tree lighting turns Boston Common into a winter wonderland. Lights adorn the trees around the park leading up to the commemorative spruce that comes to Boston every December. This iconic tree memorializes a 100-year bond formed between the citizens of Boston and Halifax, Nova Scotia after the Great Halifax Explosion of 1917.
