I started COG in 2014. At that point, I’d been in Boston real estate for almost a decade. The majority of that span had been on the commercial brokerage side of things but I had gained recent residential experience through my own property purchases and via 2 years of work on a co-living concept. At the time it felt natural to open an independent residential brokerage that focused on the neighborhoods where I was spending the most time (South End and Back Bay). Admittedly, I was not totally sure where it would lead. In the last 7 years, the company has grown each year in terms of our transaction volume and we now rank as one of the most productive agencies in the city. However, we’ve never really grown our team beyond a group of 3 or 4 core players. For the last three years, Jamie Gaines and Rachel Bakish have partnered with me to be the drivers behind our little engine that could!
As we look toward 2022 and the business pipeline we have in general brokerage, new development sales and multifamily/land sales, it’s time to add to our group. Afterall, I added “Group” to the company name because I wanted it to feel like an inclusive and collaborative environment.
On the one hand, my expectations for new talent are sky high. We need people who are independently motivated, eager to grow, humble and ready to work 7 day weeks during many parts of the year.
On the other hand, we really just want authentic, kind and positive people who are comfortable in their own skin. They don’t have to have a developed real estate sales pipeline or a vast knowledge of real estate transactions… They just have to understand that when they make a commitment they live up to it and that, at the end of the day, the team is more valuable together than independently.
Whether you’re 5 or 10 years into a real estate career and looking for something different (I do believe we are different!) or just beginning to think about how a career in real estate might change your lifestyle, I’d love to chat with you. Please reach out to anyone on our team to learn how you might fit in.
